MAKKAH: Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Makkah recently arrested a man who cheated people by claiming to be a sorcerer who could double sums of cash and cure illnesses.

Commission members said the man was the most expensive “sorcerer” they have netted so far. They said he used to charge an average SR12,000 per spell.

Commission members began monitoring his activities after receiving complaints from members of the public.

After gathering evidence of his misdoings, commission members and police officers moved in and arrested him.

The man was handed over to the local police following his arrest. Evidence found at his home was also handed to police.

Meanwhile, commission members arrested an overstayer who sold alcohol from his car. A large quantity of alcohol was found in his trunk.

The man is still in custody as investigations continue.
