Where science meets with art

RIYADH: Science met art in a “work and photograph exhibition” at the Delhi Public School (DPS, Riyadh) here. The expo featured stunning creations of scientific devices and paintings; which may hold key to future inventions.

More than 1,000 scientific works and paintings including miniature models of arts and crafts made by students were on display, which were commended by guests, parents and teachers alike.

Rajeev Shahare, charge d’affaires at the Indian Embassy, said that “such events develop scientific temper among students,” and they should form part of any educational initiative or curriculum, which eventually help to inculcate skills of science and art among students. The exhibition was formally inaugurated by Shahare at the DPS auditorium.

Referring to the CBSE Class X results, DPS Principal Mairaj Mohammed Khan said “We are glad that all our students, who represent the second batch of CBSE Grade X, have passed with first division.” Saima Haleem Siddiqui topped with 90.8 percent marks, while Nikita Kumar with 89.4 percent and Theodore Dos Santos with 88.4 percent took second and third places respectively.

Some of the scientific works, which were adjudged as best, included a windmill by Hamza C.K., an electric circuit by Isra Nizam, structure of tooth by Faris, renal system by Thomas John, process of distillation by Prakhar Pushkar, solar cooker by Yusuf M. Akhtar, electromagnet by Zain Shah, volcano by Abeer, animal life by Shreepthi Sandeep, water cycle by Shania Kapai and a painting by Sumedha Mandal.
