MADINAH: The General Prosecution and Investigation Board has issued an arrest warrant for a Saudi man in his 50s who is suspected of being involved in his daughter’s death, a local daily reported.

The nine-year-old girl’s body was discovered on a dirt road in the Al-Ougoul area, east of Madinah, about three weeks ago.

Speaking to Arab News then, Col. Abdul Muhsin Al-Radadi, official spokesman for Madinah police, said the area where the body was discovered was cordoned off.

“A forensic team arrived to gather evidence and examine the body, which was found in a dirt road that leads to a farm. Early examinations showed the girl was aged between 9 and 12 years,” said Al-Radadi.

The girl’s body was taken to King Fahd Hospital for further examination, and to ascertain her identity and cause of death. The girl’s mother reported her missing three days before the body’s discovery. Investigators did not initially suspect the father to be involved in her disappearance.

According to police records, the father reported his daughter missing three days after she was reported missing by the mother. When police confronted the father, he said he thought that the daughter was with her mother, who is divorced from him. The father also denied any involvement in the girl’s disappearance. Police, however, became suspicious of the father after the dead girl’s sister reported she had seen her sister in his car before her disappearance.
