JEDDAH: Gold’s Gym packed the house last week when they held their Open Arm Wrestling Championships. The event was split into three divisions, Light Weight under 75 kgs, Middle Weight 75 t0 90 kgs, and Heavy Weight 90 kgs and over. The contestants strained and tugged for every inch gained while battling to reach the finals.
The contest was conducted using International Arm Wrestling rules and table specifications. The event was a win and move on , one loss and out road to the finals. In the 75 kgs and under division Mahmoud Al Solimah beat Rashed Bin Afef for the title. Middle weights 75 to 90 kgs Mohamed Bakhesween defeated Tariq Kanhoush in a hard fought duel.
The heavy weight battle was truly the main event. Mahmoud Kenjo and Waleed Nahas had 7 failed attempts before the officials taped their hands together to prevent slipping and the battle was on. Strong man Mahmoud Kenjo was victorious and claimed the title. All three Champions received a free trip to Canada with a one month English course, six months free at Gold’s Gym, a free weekend at Palm Beach in Obur, a custom made thobe from Lomar, and Trophies and certificates.
The second place winners received three months free at Gold’s Gym, one day free at Palm Beach in Obur, a custom made thobe from Lomar, and Trophies and certificates.
