JEDDAH: Labor Minister Ghazi Al-Gosaibi commended the efforts of Mohammed Jameel, president of Abdul Latif Jameel Community Services Programs (ALJCSP), in creating job opportunities for Saudis and urged other Saudi businessmen to emulate his example to end the unemployment problem in the country.
“Once I told Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah that if we had 10 businessmen like Mohammed Jameel ... the king then responded by saying that if we had five like him,” the minister said while addressing ALJCSP’s annual celebrations here recently. “Mohammed Jameel could be described as an employment bureau considering the amount of work he is exerting in the way of creating job opportunities for Saudis,” the minister said.
ALJCSP created 30,115 jobs in 2008 alone. “We have a plan to create 38,000 jobs in 2009, of which we have already created 15,000,” Jameel said. He expressed his hope that by 2015, his organization would create 80,000 jobs a year.
Al-Gosaibi said the partnership between the private sector and the state is the best way to eradicate unemployment and create jobs for young Saudi men and women. “The public sector alone cannot provide jobs to all Saudis,” he pointed out.
“We can never solve the unemployment problem by expressing our aspirations. But we can do it through the efforts of businessmen like Mohammed Jameel,” the minister said. “I am really worried about unemployment of Saudis and events like this give hope to me and other Saudis,” he added.
Jameel, the chief job creator in Bab Rizq Jameel, the employment wing of ALJCSP, expressed his appreciation and gratitude toward the government for its continuous support. He also thanked the minister for attending the celebration.
He said the new job opportunities would be created in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor, the Human Resources Development Fund, the Saudi Credit Bank and other related organizations.
During the ceremony, branch managers of ALJCSP explained their achievements during 2008 while its beneficiaries spoke about their success stories as a result of the opportunities provided by the job creators’ team in Bab Rizq Jameel.
The ALJCSP provides jobs to Saudis through seven programs: Direct employment, employment after training, small projects, productive household, taxi ownership, truck ownership and franchising, in addition to Nafisa Shams Academy’s work from home and handicrafts programs.
During the ceremony, outstanding achievers in each program during 2008 were honored. They were Salam Al-Tamimi (productive household) from Hail, Fahmy Al-Mahry (small projects) from Madinah, Mohammed A. Manjry (training) from Jazan, Mohammed Mubarak Al-Yamani (truck ownership) from Jeddah, Faris Al-Otaibi (taxi ownership) from Riyadh, Samar Abdul Hadi Al-Maghrabi (small projects), Abdullah Asiri (truck ownership), and Muzna Al-Jeraisy and Huda Al-Nazawi (productive household). Outstanding administrators Ahmed Ali Milhan, Ahmed Bashneeni, Abdullah Aali Al-Khazim, Naif Al-Sadda and Salma Al-Saeed were also honored.
