JEDDAH: The police have arrested a young Saudi in his 20s on charges of impersonating a government official at the Labor Office in Jeddah. He allegedly embezzled SR7,000 from the owner of a business on the pretext that the man had not followed the government's regulations concerning the number of Saudi employees in his establishment.

Police spokesman Col. Misfer Al-Juaid said the police received information from the shop owner that a young Saudi man had threatened to close down the business if he did not receive SR7,000 as a penalty for the business violating regulations concerning the employment of Saudi nationals.

The spokesman did not identify the man but said he was arrested and was in custody for interrogation. Al-Juaid warned the owners of shops and commercial establishments not to fall prey to swindlers but to thoroughly check the identities of those claiming to work for the government.
