BCC

By opening its Factory in Bahra, Bahra Cables Company (BCC) received the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO) Certification for its building wire products ranging from 450 to 750 Volts, and for the strength cable ranging from 1 to 3 Kilo-volts. Bahra cables are Saudi manufactured cables and distributed all over the Kingdom knowing that there is a huge demand on cables as Saudi Arabia is witnessing more than 800 new projects for more than $500 billion. Faysal Alaquil, CPC director of business development and official spokesperson, said: “We are proud of BCC’s role in helping the Kingdom meet its growing need for reliable energy.”

DOW

The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) has announced further progress of the integration of Rohm and Haas in the Middle East saying the Saudi Acrylic Monomer Company (SAMCo) will play an integral role in Dow’s development plans in the Middle East. The SAMCo plant, which is being built in Jubail, is a joint venture owned by Tasnee Sahara Olefins Company (TSOC) of Saudi Arabia and Dow. When completed, the Jubail plant is expected to contribute to the Kingdom in terms of economic development, industrial diversity by supplying products for local and regional markets, provide access to new markets and customers, and enable the creation of more than 200 new jobs.

YANSAB

The Yanbu National Petrochemical Company (YANSAB) has announced the startup of production at its complex in Yanbu Industrial City. According to Mutlaq Al-Morished, YANSAB chairman and SABIC VP, corporate finance, the YANSAB complex, which comprises eight world-class plants, will add a total annual capacity of more than four million tons of petrochemical products, including 1.3 million tons of ethylene, 400,000 tons of propylene, 800,000 tons of polyethylene (both low- and high-density), 400,000 tons of polypropylene and 770,000 tons of ethylene glycol, in addition to 250,000 tons of benzene, and a mix of Xylene and toluene, 100,000 tons combined of butane-1 and butane-2, and 25,000 tons of MTBE.

BANK ALJAZIRA

Jeddah Summer Festival (JSF), which opened on Thursday night, is rapidly becoming a landmark in the Kingdom’s social calendar, and this year it promises to be even better, with the support of Bank AlJazira as this year’s “Official Bank” of the festival. The festival includes more than 220 activities including various contests, games and entertainment events and performances over a period of 37 days, targeting 3.4 million visitors. Ziad Aba Alkhail, the deputy CEO at Bank AlJazira, said: “Ultimately, banking is all about people, which means that it’s our duty to get involved in community projects whenever possible. We, at Bank AlJazira, are very excited about the opportunity to sponsor JSF this season and get involved in the initiative to develop domestic tourism.”

Showtime Arabia and the Orbit Group of Companies have announced the merger of their pay-TV operations to form a new company and create a major pay-TV platform in the MENA region. The new company will offer over 70 exclusive channels featuring the widest choice of exclusive first run movies, premium sports, Arabic and international TV entertainment. New customers may subscribe to new, enhanced packages from Aug. 1, while existing Orbit and Showtime subscribers will have the option to either benefit from special upgrade offers or retain their current subscription packages at their current prices should they choose to do so.

The new SMX-C14 and SMX-C10 also feature Samsung’s stylish Crystal Design with a touch of color that was first introduced in the company’s line of flat-panel HDTVs.
