PUNE: Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said on Sunday he was convinced about the guilt of all 11 Hindu people accused in the Malegaon bomb blasts and equated the case with the last November’s Mumbai terrorist attack.

He said that the state government would not remain a silent spectator to terrorist activities and would do everything to bring those responsible to justice. The state government will challenge the Bombay High Court against the lower court decision to drop terrorist charges against the accused, he said.

Speaking at a public function at Congress Party headquarters in the city on Saturday evening, Chavan sought to overcome the political setback that the Congress Party had suffered following the decision of a special court to drop charges under the stringent Maharashtra State Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) against all the accused in the Malegaon bomb blast case.

He said he was fully convinced of the involvement of the accused in the blast and would ensure they were punished under the severest laws of the state.

“We will soon file a appeal with the high court,” Chavan said, maintaining that the police had committed no blunders in the case.
