MAKKAH: Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah Al-Asheikh urged members of the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice to be gentle while dealing with violators of moral values.
“They should be patient and should put up with any harm they have to face while urging people to do good, they should take publicly approved steps and be in line with the Shariah while handling violators,” Al-Asheikh said in a meeting with the director general of the commission in Makkah province Sheikh Ahmad Al-Ghamdi and his subordinates Tuesday evening.
“The commission members should be well versed in religious texts to avoid them being defeated by arguments put forward by some people.” The grand mufti added: “The commission is playing a vital role in protecting society and spreading virtue.”
The grand mufti also lauded the government’s support to the commission by opening new branches of commission offices.
“The commission members should take a straight path, be charitable and kind to people and show them the right path because people need to be guided away from the path of sin to the right path,” he said.
He also stressed the role of the commission in maintaining the country’s security, social stability, economy and territorial integrity.
