JEDDAH: Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal ibn Majed has approved in principle a project to upgrade charitable homes for Jeddah’s elderly to be jointly implemented by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Propagation and Guidance and the Jeddah Welfare Society, according to the supervisor of the charitable homes, Abdul Ilah Abdul Majeed.
He told Arab News that a new charitable organization named Ihsan, emanating from the Jeddah Welfare Society, would be sponsoring the charitable homes.
He said the new organization, awaiting approval by the concerned authorities, would undertake the responsibility of refurbishing the charitable homes and would also ensure treatment, bed care and medical treatment to the inhabitants of these homes.
“The society will decide on who is eligible to be accommodated in such homes,” the supervisor said. Abdul Majeed said there were 120 charitable homes in Jeddah accommodating 120 families that have suffered from negligence and needed repair and renovation.
He said the society has a new home for the old in Sharafiyah, central Jeddah, which can accommodate 60 families.
