MADINAH: So much for planning ahead. According to a report in Friday’s Al-Madinah daily, a groom picked up the lambs for his wedding feast and delivered the creatures to a restaurant for the preparation of the huge piles of mandi (lambs steamed in rice) that is often offered at Saudi get-togethers. But the cook thought the mandi had to be ready for same-day service and called back that evening to inform the groom to pick up the food, hot and ready for the guests. The groom exploded when he learned that his large order had been prepared a day earlier than expected, and there was no way he was going serve re-hashed day-old mandi for his special day. The restaurant had no choice but to prepare the entire meal again the next day at its own expense.
