MADINAH: An Egyptian truck driver who was reportedly kidnapped by unidentified persons fabricated the story in order to run away from his Saudi employer, said Col. Mohsen Al-Radadi, Madinah police spokesman.

Al-Radadi said the driver is now in Egypt. He said another Egyptian driver informed police about the disappearance of his colleague after his truck broke down in Salsa while going from Madinah to Jordan.

"When the second Egyptian driver went to Khaibar to bring a mechanic to repair his colleague's truck, he received a call from the driver that patrol police had fined him for wrongly parking the vehicle," the spokesman said.

The previous reports claimed that the man called his colleague to say he was being beaten and kidnapped by a man claiming to be an undercover officer. The driver that received the call then informed police.
