JEDDAH: Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) and Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) led Saudi shares to a lower close, the third in a row on Saturday.
The Tadawul All-Share index (TASI) closed 0.41 percent lower at 5,739.2 points in the first day of trading this week. SABIC closed 1.1 percent lower at SR70.25 and SEC ended 1 percent down at SR9.6.
Only 4 sectors managed to close the day with gains, with gains relatively moderate, as the Telecom & IT, Energy & Utilities, Transport and Retail sectors were up 0.08 percent, 0.38 percent, 0.42 percent and 0.62 percent respectively. Losses on the other hand ranged from 0.01 percent in Agriculture to 2.96 percent in Hotel & Tourism across 11 sectors. Market breadth was 27 advancers and 87 decliners, giving an AD ratio of 0.31, the Jeddah-based Financial Transaction House (FTH) said in its daily market commentary.
The stock market turnover was SR1.86 billion on Saturday.
