TAIF: A recently married Saudi groom died in a car accident while traveling to Taif on his first day back to work. The man died after crashing into the back of a truck late Thursday, a local newspaper reported. The accident happened on the Taif-Truba highway. Eyewitnesses said that the man was alive at the wheel of the car after the crash and died a short while later.
Worker dies in detention
DAMMAM: A foreign worker died of a heart attack at Dammam Deportation Center amid allegations that he was beaten by police. The allegations were made by the man’s sponsor, a local daily reported. The sponsor has filed an official complaint against the deportation center, accusing them of causing the death. He also claims that the worker was in a terrible state when he visited him last and that he had requested he be transferred to hospital. An official investigation has now been launched in the case to find the truth.
Woman slain in smuggling bid
JAZAN: Security forces in Jazan arrested a Qat smuggler who used an Ethiopian woman and her son to divert attention away from him, Al-Riyadh newspaper reported on Friday. When the security personnel requested the man to stop his vehicle, he drove off. Police chased the smuggler who lost control of the car and crashed into a lamppost as a result of which the woman died and her child was injured. Police officials are still investigating the case.
