AMMAN: The Jordanian authorities have received 13 citizens from Egypt after they were arrested there in connection with a network trading in human organs, the official Petra news agency reported Tuesday.

“The defendants arrived in Jordan yesterday evening and were referred to the authorities concerned for interrogation,” Petra quoted an authoritative source as saying.

Contacts between the two governments through the Jordanian embassy in Cairo have speeded up the extradition of the 13 Jordanians, the official added.

He did not give details, but local newspapers reported earlier this week that the 13 Jordanians were involved in the sale of kidneys to well to do Arabs in the Gulf countries and other areas.

Several citizens were also arrested inside Jordan over the past few weeks for interrogation on suspicion of having links with the group that operated across Arab borders.
