Health minister meets with regional directors

RIYADH: Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah met with directors of health affairs in the Kingdom here on Friday. During the meeting he thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah for meeting with health directors during Ramadan in Makkah. He also discussed future plans of the ministry.

He said the ministry had sought to name the national health project after King Abdullah, but the king chose to name the scheme the National Project for Integrated Health.

He also said the king was briefed on the constraints and difficulties the ministry was facing.

He said the project, if adopted, would bring about a historical shift in the ministry during the next five years and, God willing, it will contribute to the upgrading of health services.

The health minister then reviewed with the directors the latest development on H1N1 and the ministry’s effort to combat this disease. He added that the postponement of the start of the school year was under the directive of the supreme authority.

The health minister pointed out the success of the ministry’s precautionary plan that was implemented during the Umrah season saying that the field report did not record any death among pilgrims and visitors in Makkah and Madinah and the number of cases affected by swine flu had recovered.

He urged all health departments to double their effort and to coordinate with health departments in all areas to implement the precautionary measures to combat swine flu in schools and to link all health centers with number of schools in their district to help battle the disease and to quickly take necessary actions.
