DAMMAM: Police in Ahsa, in the Eastern Province, stopped a UAE woman in her 30s who was driving her car with her father at her side. Officers initially stopped the car because of the car’s extensively dark tinted windows, which are illegal in the Kingdom. The traffic police were, however, shocked to find a woman behind the wheel. The woman had driven 300 km inside the Kingdom before being stopped. The woman’s father told police that his daughter had not committed a crime and that she was driving within the limit. The officers, however, explained that it is illegal for women to drive in Saudi Arabia. The family was allowed to continue after the father promised he would not allow his daughter to drive again in the Kingdom.
