RIYADH: Bandar Alireza, the driver of Alreem Racing Team, looks determined to maintain his lead position in the 4th round of Bison MINI Cup Saudi Arabia, which is the opening race of the new season of Zain Alreem International Circuit. The race will take place late afternoon Thursday.
The tournament, which was launched middle of this year, under the sponsorship of Bison, MINI Cooper cars, Mobil 1 oil and Zain, witnessed strong competition between the participating teams onboard 10 MINI cars. It was a triple struggle in both 1st and 2nd rounds among Bandar Alireza of Alreem Racing Team, and Majed Al-Ghamdi and Saeed Al-Mury of Alfaisal Racing Team.
“I shall try my best to utilize the experience I got from the three last rounds and the early heavy practice we have been through to maintain my lead,” said Alireza on his arrival in Riyadh. Al-Ghamdi added that he would play hard to get the lead position.
Meanwhile, Saeed Al-Mury, the talented racing driver and the teammate of Al-Ghamdi, said the competition was still open and too difficult to predict the winner of the 4th round. “I believe that the competition will remain open until the last lap due to the strength of the participants and the very close overall points scored by the first four drivers.”
The new season of Zain Alreem International Circuit is full of big and exciting races including the 1st round of the Saudi Karting Championship, which is organized by Saudi Motorsport Federation, as well as more than 15 international races that will take place for the first time in the Kingdom.
Bison MINI Cup Saudi Arabia consists of three stages: The primary stage, where each driver will be given 20 minutes for practicing and exploring the circuit and his potentials.
The official qualifying stage, which is an important stage prior to the race kicks off, where the fastest lap of each driver is registered in order to determine the starring point of each driver. Then comes the main race stage where the drivers will be racing on a track of 60 km.
