RIYADH: The Regional Presidency of International Special Olympics for Middle East/North Africa has awarded its international prize for 2009 to Riyadh Gov. Prince Salman in appreciation of his efforts in the service of the handicapped in Saudi Arabia.
"We have also considered Prince Salman's support for scientific research in handicap and organizations working in the field," said Ayman Abdulwahab, regional president of the organization. "This is the highest award of the International Special Olympics which is usually given to kings and heads of states," he added.
Prince Sultan bin Fahd, president of the Youth Welfare Presidency, and his deputy Prince Nawaf bin Faisal congratulated Prince Salman for winning the award. "Prince Salman deserves this honor considering the great care and support he gives to this valuable group of people in our society," Prince Sultan said.
