King to host 1,300 guests

MAKKAH: As many as 1,300 prominent personalities from different countries will perform Haj this year as guests of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.

“About 850 guests have already arrived in the Kingdom,” said Abdullah Al-Laheedan, deputy minister of Islamic affairs and executive director of the program for hosting the king’s guests.

He said 100 guests of the king arrived in Makkah on Monday, adding that they came from Egypt, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey and India. He said the remaining guests would be arriving on Tuesday. Last week, King Abdullah announced the government will host 2,000 relatives of Palestinians killed in Gaza and West Bank.
