ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani on Wednesday said that Pakistan's armed forces were capable of bringing back peace and normalcy in the tribal agencies. He was addressing a joint gathering of Army, Frontier Police and Frontier Corps in Peshawar.
"Pakistan was created in the name of Allah and it's our commitment to ensure a secure, prosperous Pakistan to our next generations," he said. "No army can be successful in its long- or medium-term objectives when the people, I mean the nation, media and all the segments of society are not supportive of it."
He said Army achieved given objectives in Malakand Division and now it has weakened militants in South Waziristan with the total support of people of Pakistan. Kayani also announced 200 million rupees for the security forces operating in Frontier and Tribal agencies and promised hi-tech equipment for NWFP Police Force.
