OXFORD: On behalf of Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, Saudi Ambassador to the United Kingdom Prince Muhammad bin Nawaf will inaugurate the Hall of Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz for Islamic Heritage in the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford University on Wednesday, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.

Queen Elizabeth II will officially open the renovated Ashmolean Museum, one of the oldest and most famous museums of the world originally established in 1683.

Crown Prince had donated £2,000,000 for the construction of the Islamic heritage hall.

In recognition of this donation, the management decided to rename the museum’s hall as Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz for Islamic Heritage.

The Ashmolean museum was re-opened to the public on Nov. 7, following a major multi-million-pound redevelopment.

On its opening weekend the museum attracted 22,000 visitors and is currently averaging 6,000 visitors a day.
