DALLAS: The Atlanta Hawks won their first game at Dallas in six attempts, beating the Mavericks 80-75 in a tight NBA game on Saturday.

Joe Johnson scored 31 points and Marvin Williams had career-high 15 rebounds for the Hawks.

Dirk Nowitzki had 32 points and nine rebounds for Dallas.

TrailBlazers 90, Rockets 89: In Portland, Oregon, Brandon Roy scored 28 points and the winning basket to help Portland beat Houston.

Roy scored on a driving layup with 3 seconds left, and Houston’s Aaron Brooks missed on the other end to give Portland a victory that was tarnished by the loss of center Greg Oden to a freak injury in the first quarter.

Suns 115, Kings 107: In Phoenix, the hosts used a late spree of 3-pointers to shake off Sacramento.

Steve Nash scored 32 points and Amare Stoudemire had 18 points and 21 rebounds for the Suns, who improved to 7-0 at home.

Nuggets 106, Spurs 99: In San Antonio, Denver opened a four-game road trip with victory over San Antonio.

Carmelo Anthony scored 34 points, and Chauncey Billups added 18 for the Nuggets.

Tony Parker led San Antonio with 27 points.

Magic 126, Warriors 118: In Oakland, California, Vince Carter had 27 points and seven assists in Orlando’s comeback win over Golden State.

Mickael Pietrus scored a season-high 22 points for the Magic, who outscored the Warriors 17-4 down the stretch, and have won five straight.

Monta Ellis had 33 points and seven assists for the Warriors.

Raptors 110, Bulls 78: In Chicago, Chris Bosh had 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead Toronto to a thrashing of Chicago.

Bosh had 13 points in the opening quarter alone and hit nine of 12 shots overall in just 22 minutes.

While Toronto’s consecutive wins steadied the ship after five straight defeats, Chicago slid to its seventh loss in eight games.

Clippers 88, Pacers 72: In Los Angeles, the home team put on a game-ending run of 18 points to 4 to shake off Indiana.

Al Thornton scored 19 points, and Baron Davis had eight of his 12 points during the late burst.

Timberwolves 108, Jazz 101: In Minneapolis, Minnesota won just its third game of the season, overcoming Utah.

Kevin Love had 18 points and 10 rebounds in his second game back from a broken hand, as the Wolves improved their meager record to 3-17.

Ryan Gomes had 23 points on 9-of-10 shooting for Minnesota, while Utah’s Carlos Boozer had 21 points and 13 rebounds.

Bocats 106, 76ers 105: In Charlotte, North Carolina, Raymond Felton’s driving layup with 5 seconds left capped a late comeback as Charlotte edged slumping Philadelphia.

A night after the Bobcats embarrassingly lost to the previously winless New Jersey, they appeared ready to hand the 76ers their first win in more than two weeks.

But Boris Diaw hit a 3-pointer and a scoop shot in a late run, and Felton beat a screen and sank the go-ahead basket.

Andre Iguodala missed a fade away at the buzzer for the 76ers, who blew a 10-point fourth-quarter lead in their ninth straight loss.

Flames torch Sharks

SAN JOSE: Daymond Langkow scored early in the third period to give the Calgary Flames a 2-1 win over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday in a clash of two NHL divisional leaders.

Olli Jokinen also scored for the Flames, who have earned at least one point in 13 of 15 road games this season.

Ryane Clowe scored for the Sharks, who retained overall leadership of the NHL despite the defeat.

Blackhawks 2, Penguins 1: In Pittsburgh, Kris Versteeg’s overtime goal saw Chicago end Pittsburgh’s run of five straight home wins.

Former Penguins forward Marian Hossa, booed every time he touched the puck, put Chicago ahead in the first period, notching his first goal since returning from a shoulder injury.

Capitals 8, Flyers 2: In Philadelphia, a new coach did little to help Philadelphia, which was humbled by Washington.

It was the seventh loss in eight games for the Flyers, who fired coach John Stevens on Friday and replaced him with Peter Laviolette.

The Southeast Division-leading Capitals won their fifth straight with two goals each from Tomas Fleischmann and Mike Green, while Nicklas Backstrom had a goal and four assists.

Devils 4, Red Wings 3, SO: In Newark, New Jersey, Detroit came from two goals down to force overtime, but lost in a shootout to New Jersey. Patrik Elias scored in the fourth round, giving the Devils an eighth win from nine home games.

Avalanche 3, Blue Jackets 2: In Columbus, Ohio, Wojtek Wolski had a goal and an assist and Colorado held on for a victory over Columbus.

A potential tying goal was disallowed in the final seconds, when Jason Chimera thought he had jammed in the puck past a scrum of defenders on the line.

Blues 5, Kings 4, SO: In Los Angeles, St. Louis conceded an equalizer with just 30 seconds left before recovering to beat Los Angeles in a shootout.

St. Louis’ Paul Kariya scored twice in the third period, with his second coming with 2:20 remaining.

However Alexander Frolov scored the late tying goal, and the game went to a shootout, where Andy McDonald and Brad Boyes scored for the Blues in the first two rounds. Boyes had earlier scored in the second period, along with Keith Tkachuk.

Coyotes 3, Senators 2: In Glendale, Arizona, Ed Jovanovski scored in his return to help Phoenix beat Ottawa. Taylor Pyatt and Petr Prucha also scored for the Coyotes, who won their fourth straight to match a season high.

Rangers 2, Sabres 1: In Buffalo, New York, Henrik Lundqvist’s 36 saves helped New York edge Buffalo.

Buffalo’s Jason Pominville ended Lundqvist’s shutout bid with a slap shot with 58 seconds left. Lundqvist then made two more saves to preserve the win, stopping 18 shots in the third period.

Christopher Higgins scored for the first time in 11 games, and Ryan Callahan added the winner for the Rangers.

Wild 5, Predators 3: In Nashville, Tennessee, Andrew Brunette scored a power-play goal and added an assist as Minnesota earned its fifth straight win by downing Nashville.

Andrew Ebbett, James Sheppard, Andrew Brunette, Antti Miettinen and Eric Belanger scored for the Wild, who had 10 players record a point.

Oilers 3, Stars 2, SO: In Dallas, Shawn Horcoff scored in the fifth round of the shootout to help Edmonton earn a rare road win at Dallas.

The Oilers, who won for only the fourth time in their past 26 games in Dallas, rallied from a two-goal deficit in the first period to send the game to overtime.

Ladislav Smid had a goal and an assist, and Lubomir Visnovsky also scored for Edmonton.

Goaltender Mike Smith made 30 saves, recording his first shutout of the season as the Lightning won their first game in five.

Bruins 7, Maple Leafs 2: In Boston, Marc Savard’s hat trick helped Boston trounce Toronto.

The Bruins and their raucous fans ruined Phil Kessel’s return to Boston by snapping the Maple Leaf’s four-game road winning streak.

Kessel, traded in the off season after leading the Bruins with 36 goals last season, was booed throughout and committed a turnover that led to Boston’s third goal by Zdeno Chara.

Boston’s Johnny Boychuk scored his first NHL goal.

Hurricanes 5, Canucks 3: In Raleigh, North Carolina, Erik Cole’s hat trick helped Carolina snap a five-game skid by beating Vancouver.

Cole’s sixth NHL hat trick was his first multigoal game for Carolina since he was reacquired from Edmonton.
