JEDDAH: Last weekend the Saudi Basketball Federation STC Professional League started across the Kingdom with Al-Ansar, Al-Ittihad, Ohud, Al-Ahli, and Al-Hilal all winning their first two games.
At the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports Complex in Jeddah, Ittihad overpowered Jubail 110-45 in its opener. Ali Magrabi was in excellent shape and put on a show hitting the three-point shot, snatching rebounds and picking up assists before taking a break to let the bench players see some action.
Ahli scored a win against Khalij because Khalij didn’t fly to Jeddah and the score was recorded Ahli 20, Khalij 0.
Friday night Ittihad won by default over Khalij 20-0.This could hurt Ittihad and Ahli at the end of the season if two teams have the same record the team with the most points comes out on top so the awarding of 20 points would bring down the average and total points.
Next Ahli beat Jubail 99-59 to close down the week. In Madinah, Ansar romped over Masera 117-34, then beat Wehdah 66-43.
Ohud downed Wehdah 75-58, then toyed with Masera 92-28. Hilal at home beat Nadah 79-56, then put down Fath 92- 51.
Al-Nasr lost both openers, against Fath 75- 66 and against Nahdah 83-80. Ansar and Ittihad are setting the pace scoring over 100 points in a game which means that the defense is weak.
