LONDON: Gulf Environment Forum (GEF) to be held in Jeddah from March 7-9, 2010 has won full support of the Presidency of Meteorology Environment (PME), United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
Held with the support of Prince Turki bin Nasser, chairman of the PME, GEF is the first ever environmental event of its kind in the Gulf region. It will bring many crucial industries together under three key themes: Exchange, Develop, Sustain.
GEF takes place at a time when perception about the environment is changing in the Middle East. A shift in attitude means it would open investment opportunities within the region. With the backing of influential organizations like UNDP and UNEP, this event signifies the Gulf Cooperation Council’s commitment to develop the Gulf region for the benefit of all.
The inaugural event will combine an international exhibition and strategic conference where industry experts will gather at the luxurious Jeddah Hilton for the chance to discuss solutions and opportunities for a cleaner and brighter future.
It is estimated that over $100 billion environmental investment will be generated in the Gulf region over the next 10 years. With companies such as GE Energy, Saudi Aramco and Dow Chemical spearheading green initiatives, the world’s biggest companies are now investing in one of the fastest growing markets in the world.
The GEF, being organized by BME Global Ltd., offers the participating companies a chance to be seen as a pioneer in the industry and shows their commitment to the changes that are taking place in the region.
The strategic conference will be focused on delivering thought-provoking, interactive discussions that will encourage audience participation.
This will deliver the perfect platform to get the participants’ voice heard and discussed with industry experts. Topics will include:
• Advancing environmental regulation and enforcement in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East;
• Managing water resources and wastewater effectively;
• Developing waste management practices; and
• The future of environmental technology.
