LONDON: Organizers of the inaugural Gulf Environment Forum at the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment have announced the royal court approval from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation.
With climate change talks in Copenhagen attracting global attention, this announcement from the Saudi Royal Court comes as a huge statement of commitment toward more sustainability.
Saudi Arabia, as well as the other GCC economies, is growing at a remarkable rate and it is estimated that an incredible $100 billion of investment will be spent on environmental services in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) region over the next 10 years. Sectors such as renewable energy, water treatment, recycling and biotechnology are tipped to receive much of the investment.
The GEF is held with the support of Prince Turki bin Nasser, chairman of the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment. Taking place in Jeddah from March 7-9, GEF will enable Saudi, regional and international companies to showcase their commitment to the sustainable future in a combined exhibition and conference.
Exhibition space is already running low and interested companies are invited to contact the organizers as soon as possible.
