Yanbu theft victim outsmarts thief

JEDDAH: The police here arrested on Thursday a young Saudi man on charges he stole money, a mobile phone, a passport and other important documents from the house of a Yemeni expatriate.

The suspect is also accused of blackmailing his victim for SR5,000 to return the important documents and also threatening to double the sum for each day the Yemeni man didn’t pay up. Police arranged a sting and arrested the suspect at a car repair shop where the victims agreed to meet with the blackmailer.

Police also reported on Thursday that a Filipino expatriate in Yanbu died when he accidentally fell into a fuel tank he was trying to repair. The body was taken to the medical center of the Royal Commission in Yanbu Industrial City.
