IMC, Faisal Park ELS notch first victories

JEDDAH: International Medical Center in the Inter-Company Group |A and Faisal Park ELS in the Open Rated A Division won their first games in the Filsama Open Invitational Basketball Tournament 3rd Conference at the Jeddah Sports Academy court on Thalia corner Sitteen Street here.

IMC, collecting 27 points from Audar and 14 from Laurente, hammered out a decisive 65-56 victory over Mohap, while Faisal Park joined Pattaya Restaurant as the early winners in the division by beating Shams 61-54. Jollibee continues to set the pace in the Inter-Company Group A with a 3-0 record.   Leading the way for Jollibee was RJ Dollentas with 32 points. Batillan added 15 points.

Al Salam found the towering Sultan Kudarat  tandem of Mohammad and Peang was too hot and dropped an 82-67 decision in an  All Muslim Division match.

Ibrahim was Salam’s main man with 15 points.

In the headline match of the tournament’s fourth week, Faisal Park ELS was simply the better team over Shams, getting 16 points apiece from Akram and Addae.

In a Friday thriller, MOP (Modern Offset Printer) edged out WRJ Cargo-Cotabato 68-66 in the Inter-Company Group A.

WRJ Cargo had two chances to potentially win the game but then failed to convert two free throws and two offensive rebounds.

MOP was up by four in the final 30 seconds when WRJ made a quick basket, cutting the lead to two.

MOP missed on the next trip and in the final 15 seconds sent WRJ to the free throw line with  a duty foul.

WRJ missed both free throws that could have tied the game and also failed to cash in on two offensive rebounds to let MOP escape with the victory.

X-Rulz (Zamboanga Germosa) stayed unbeaten in the All Muslim Division at 3-0 by beating Al Khaira in the final match on Friday.

Pagadian kept pace of X-Rulz at 2-0 when it brought down Madalum 81-73, while Balo-I overwhelmed Solid South 80-58.
