MAKKAH: The Makkah municipality has signed two contracts with two national companies at the value of SR50 million for the construction of a bridge and the building of walls and steps at various mountains, said Makkah Mayor Osama Al-Bar. “We are keen to implement various projects for the welfare of the public after carefully assessing the needs and requirements of residents,” Al-Bar said.
The mayor said the first of these project is a bridge to be built in Mahbas Al-Jin residential area at the cost of SR32.3 million while the second consists of steps and walls to protect against falling rocks in mountains near the city at a cost of SR17.7 million.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Rural and Municipal Affairs on Tuesday launched a program to develop the performance of municipalities. The program consists of measures to revise and evaluate performance, parameters for distinction and prospects of development.
Al-Bar said the program, which will continue for a week, is to be held to tackle various issues including good governance, management, strategic planning and analysis of work, and managing human resources and customer satisfaction.
Teams from the ministry will, as part of the program, carryout field tours to check the quality of services being provided to residents.
