JEDDAH: Zinda Tilismath of Hyderabad, India, scored a hard-earned 15-run win over Brothers-XI to win the Division I cricket league title, sponsored by ACE Travel and organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association.
Earlier, Natco Saudi Arabia took the third place beating ACE Travel by four wickets.
Zinda Tilismath after winning the toss made 216 for 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
The inform, hard-hitting Jaweed Ahmed continued to be a menace to the rival bowlers as he scored 63 off only 20 balls.
Urooj and Zaman were the others who contributed, scoring 20 runs each respectively. Zahid remained unbeaten with 37.
Arif Rana was the most successful bowler taking 3 for 23 while Abul Hassan and Asghar had one wicket each.
Brothers-XI received a jolt when their ace opener Syed Mohammed Afroz who showed good form in the league was out cheaply.
Anwar Khan, the other opening batsman scored a patient knock of 81 runs and was supported by Arif who made 43.
Both were looking dangerous and were inching toward victory. However, it was not to be as they failed to reach their target and scored 201 for 6.
Ghulam took 2 wickets while Zahid, Zaman and Asjad had one wicket each for the Zinda team.
For the third place, batting first ACE Travel scored 207 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs. Athar (85), Tariq Jamal (47) were the main contributors.
Natco’s skipper Humayoon Farooq and Jawad had two wickets each.
Natco got off to a bad start when their star batsman Fahad was out without scoring. However, Humayoon who came after the fall of Fahad’s wicket stood firm and hit a match-winning 98 in 59 balls to help his team achieve their target in 19.4 overs losing only 6 wickets.
