JEDDAH: The Jeddah Basketball League opens their 2010 1st tournament named as Titan — JBL year 2010 Invitational Basketball Tournament.
Team participants paraded in their resplendent uniforms during the opening ceremony held in the Bin Mafouz basketball court in Thalia Street at Al Hamra District here.
JBL President Mohammad Rasheed Suyat and tournament director Nelson Sison led the opening ceremony with Mohammad Bayoumi, GM of Al Haddaf Sportsware and Enrique Nape, team Manager of Al Tuwairqi grace this special occasion.
The award for the Best team in uniform went to Saudi Diyar in the Inter Company division while Nissan Alhamrani for the Open Non-rated Tropa-tropa Division.
Best mascot awards went to Tetra Pak for Inter Company and Nissan Alhamrani for Open Non-rated Tropa-tropa.
Tetra Pak defeated Al Tuwairqi 69-61. Tetra Pak taller line-up dominated the boards as Al Tuwairqi relied on their running game up to third quarter. Tetra Pak applied zone defense in the final quarter to tame the offensive plays of Al Tuwairqi for their first win. JR Viesca top scored with 25 points for Tetra Pak received a Giordano wall clock and was adjudged as the best player of the game while Lonsaga scored 19 points for Al Tuwairqi.

Nesma Recycle beat Jeddah Falcon 93-61. Nesma Recycle played good defense in the whole game, Jeddah Falcon 1st time to join the league tried to match up the offense of Nesma Recycle in the fourth quarter but they lose their steam in the final 2 minutes. Jameel pumped game high 21 points for Nesma Recycle and was adjudged as the best player of the game and a gift from Giordano Fashions while Torano chipped in 14 points for the Falcons.
Games will be played every Thursday & Friday starting 5:30 pm.
