JEDDAH: Sembcorp Industries Ltd. of Singapore is keen to share with Saudi Arabia its expertise in power and water management, and has held talks with interested parties in the Kingdom for possible tie-ups.

“Saudi Arabia’s water and power market is huge and our company would like to add value to this market because we are experienced in this field,” said Tan Chen Guan, executive vice president of Sembcorp.

Sembcorp is a leading utilities and marine group of the tiny but highly industrialized East Asian country with strong operational and technical know-how in energy and water.

Besides Singapore, it has operations in Britain, China, Vietnam as well as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman in the Middle East. At least three executives of the company were part of a 30-member Singapore business delegation that concluded its visit of Saudi Arabia last week.

Tan said although no concrete agreement was signed, the visit was fruitful as he and his team was able to explore the vast opportunities available in the Kingdom.
