Prince calls for flood remedy
JEDDAH: Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal on Monday called for immediate and permanent solutions to Jeddah’s flood drainage problem. Addressing a meeting here, he said projects to solve the problem should be first implemented in the east of Jeddah where the Nov. 25 deluge destroyed many residential districts. A workshop will be held next week to determine which projects need to be undertaken to solve the problem.
Many extradited for crimes
RIYADH: Saudi Interpol has been successful in extraditing a number of foreign nationals wanted in the Kingdom for different cases during the past six months, said Maj. Gen. Muhammad Al-Zubn, director of the organization. The extradited foreign nationals include a swindler who fled with SR250 million which he collected from Saudi investors eight years ago. There is another man who had run away with the money of a company, Al-Zubn said.
Institutes shut in Madinah
MADINAH: As many as 35 institutes in Madinah have been closed down for violating regulations, the Council of Technical and Vocational Training said on Monday. “We have also given warnings to seven,” said Eid Al-Radadi, chairman of the council. The council canceled the licenses after observing repeated excesses on their part, said Al-Radadi, adding that some institutes were offering unauthorized training programs.
