THE Delhi Public School, Riyadh (DPS Riyadh), which operates under a franchise agreement with India’s Delhi Public School Society from nursery to the 12th standard, has been ranked as one of the best schools in the Middle East in terms of academic excellence and world-class facilities, according to an independent survey.

“The vision of DPS Riyadh is sustain the top position in terms of academic performance and co-curricular activities not only in the Middle East but all over the world, as this school intends to give the students of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf a truly global perspective by providing international level schooling facilities,” said Nadeem Tarin, chairman of the DPS managing committee, while extending greetings to his countrymen on the occasion of India’s Republic Day.

Tarin was joined by DPS Riyadh Principal Mairaj Mohammed Khan and Director Amjad Khan in greeting students, parents and compatriots on the occasion. Tarin said DPS Riyadh is in the process of either acquiring a more spacious location or building its own premises shortly. He added that 20 new teachers have been taken on to boost the school’s academic excellence. He said DPS had acquired a sprawling campus with an area exceeding 15,000 sq meters in Alkhobar to open a new branch.

Tarin said the New Delhi-based DPS Society would be sending some senior teachers to Riyadh in June this year to train the DPS Riyadh staff. These teachers, he said, would share their experiences with DPSR teachers as part of a training workshop. “Some DPSR teachers will also visit the India-based DPS schools for short-term training,” he said.

Tarin said: “The school seeks to provide the best education and raise students’ awareness of national and international affairs.” He said prominent guests, including Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, top cop and TV anchor Kiran Bedi, Minister of State Salman Khurseed and DPS Society Chairman Ashok Chandra, visited the school last year.

DPSR has introduced a novel system of education under which each student’s achievement is “measured with an assessment system that evaluates knowledge, skills, performance and dispositions needed in the 21st century.” Tarin said, “Every teacher at our school will have the skills to deliver 21st century content with 21st century tools and technology that guarantees student learning.”
