JEDDAH: Hijaz-XI routed Otex Cricket Club by 146 runs in the second week of the Premier Division League, sponsored by Kanoo Group of Companies and organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association.
The high-light of the match was a brilliant 151 runs by Athar and a fine bowling performance by Saeed Amoudi who took 4 for 48.
In another match, Sigma Paints Osfan-XI scored a comfortable 7-wicket win over Saudi German Hospital.
Batting first after winning the toss, Hijaz-XI piled up 271 in their allotted 20 overs. Openers Ayaz (34) and Wahaj (28) gave them a good start. After the fall of the first wicket Athar — who was in an attacking mood — took over and pelted the bowlers all around the ground. His 151 came off only 52 balls and his last 51 runs coming off only nine balls. Amjad took 2 for 47 runs.
Otex in reply were bowled out for a paltry 125. Shahnawaz was the only batsman who put up a semblance of a fight scoring 67 runs while all the other batsmen failed to deliver. Faheem was the other bowler excelled for Hijaz taking 3 for 20.
In the other match Saudi German Hospital Cricket Club batting first made 121 for 7 wickets in their allotted 18 overs. Mumtaz (32) and Jojo (20 n.o.) were the main contributors. Mudasir took 2 for 24.
In reply the Sigma Paints reached their target in 11.5 overs losing only three wickets. Arshad struck a match-winning innings of 58 runs.
