JEDDAH: More than 400 school children took part in a sports festival organized by Malarvadi cultural organization here recently. Hamza Abbas, chief editor of Gulf Madhyamam newspaper, opened the festival at Al-Multaqa Compound in Kilo 14.
Blue House led by Faris Ayub were the first scoring 138 points while Red House led by Naseef Hamid Kunhu emerged second with 134 points in the competitions that were supervised by Salam, Anis, Ismail, Akbar Shah, Mumtaz Abdul Rauf and Rukhsana Mousa.
Hassan Hashim, Mishab Anwar, Diyana Kareem, Abdul Aziz, Fatima Shamila, Shahalmon, Haleema Haris, Naseef Hamid Kunhu and Fatima Nada were declared individual champions in different categories.
Winners were given medals during a family get-together that was held soon after the competitions. Mousakutty Vettikkattiri, chief patron of Malarvadi Balasangam in Jeddah’s South Zone, presided over the event. Muhammad Najeeb, vice president of KIG, gave a speech highlighting Malarvadi’s edutainment programs. Najmuddin, the assistant convener, thanked parents and children for making the event a big success.
