JEDDAH: Police have busted a prostitution ring in the southern Jeddah district of Madain Fahd on Monday evening.
Officers arrested several people including an 11-year-old girl, police spokesman Col. Misfir Al-Juaid announced on Tuesday.
He said police had been tipped off about a number of illegal Yemenis and Somalis running a prostitution den in an apartment.
“The apartment was put under close observation. Many people who were not connected to each other were seen going in and out of the apartment.”
The spokesman said when they were certain that suspicious activity was taking place, they took action.
“At 10 p.m. the police entered the apartment and arrested all the people there,” Al-Juaid said.
Those arrested include a 50-year-old male Yemeni, two Yemeni females aged 30 and 45, two 25-year-old Somali women and the young girl.
“They were all without identification papers and illegally staying in the Kingdom,” he added.
The police spokesman added all detainees were handed over to the Prosecution and Investigation Commission for further questioning, prior to their trial before a Shariah Court.
