RIYADH: Four teams remain in contention for the championship trophy as the tournament moves closer to the finals. They have narrowed down the scores between them during the 22nd week at the Interbank Tenpin Bowling Tournament at the InterContinental Hotel lanes here.
PNB Unified regained the top spot when it defeated Saudi Investment Bank 290-110 while SABB Amanah EasyBuy remained second with a 260-0 blanking of sister team SABB Credit Cards.
Erstwhile leader Saudi Hollandi Bank dropped to third position after failing to to score high this week. Its match with defending champion Banque Saudi Fransi ended in a 2-2 draw.
However, BSF won the match when it scored extra points during the second game 210-190 . The win has no bearing with its total score as it dropped from third to fourth spot in the team standings.
ANB-SAMA continues to occupy the fifth position, while Saudi Investment Bank is 270 points behind in the sixth spot.
PNB Unified’s five-man team never wasted the chance to overtake their rivals and booked their record sixth Team of the Week honors. Veteran Ben Torrefiel and Jun Evangelista rolled a matching four-game series of 767, while Allan dela Rosa tallied 751 followed by Sonny Alviso with 738 and Mixi Lechuga 718. Bank Al Bilad was the second highest scorer of the week, crushing SABB Premier 269-50.
Rookie Arnel Bernabe fired his best shots when he tallied a four-game series of 798 to become the Bowler of the Week. He was assisted by Fahad Al Heza, captain James Frizzle, Roy Rosarion, Roland Garcia and Ronald Cruz. Ahmed Qarqush was the highest scorer at SABB Premier with 744.
In other matches, SABB Securities Ltd. toppled Alinma Bank 180-50. Captain Nelson Complido led the SABB Securities charge with a four-game series of 720 followed by Ramil Espiritu (718), Eden Bergonio (711), Romy Guron (710) and Luis Bonguit (692).
The foursome of Rene Tanglao, Alfred Linday, Jun Rima and Bandar Shamrani led Alinma team. They were supported by captain Robert Ting and Zeus dela Cruz.
With only one session remaining in the second round, the top four teams will play against each other during the semifinal and final round to decide who will bring home the championship title.
