JEDDAH: Police are questioning three Arab expatriates — a Syrian and two Sudanese — for allegedly using stolen ATM cards to take money from banks and also purchasing items using stolen credit cards.
Col. Misfar Al-Juaid, spokesman for the Jeddah police, said security officers arrested the suspects in Aziziya area on Tuesday after receiving information that they were using credit cards illegally.
“Police found stolen credit cards with the Syrian and receipts for making purchases using Visa and Master Card in the possession of the two Sudanese,” he said.
Al-Juaid said the thieves had been able to withdraw large amounts of money using the stolen ATM and credit cards in the past few weeks.
“They purchased valuable items using credit cards and then sold them in order to get money,” he added.
He said the investigation would help security officers learn how the three had stolen the bank cards and whether they had other accomplices.
