Kanoo, Pak Young, Hijaz-XI score easy wins in Premier League

JEDDAH: Accurate bowling by Majid Sheikh, who claimed 4 for 38, and a fine knock of 74 runs by Junaid, enabled Kanoo score a comfortable 43-run win over ICC during the fourth week of the Premier Division Cricket League, sponsored by the Kanoo Group of Companies and organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association.

In the other matches, Pak Young got the better of ACE Travel by four wickets while Hijaz-XI eased past National Commercial Bank by seven wickets.

At ground No.1 Kanoo after winning the toss elected to bat, Kanoo put up 185 for 4 in the allotted 18 overs. Junaid (74), Muhammad Rabi (54) were the top scorers.

Asif took 2 wickets for ICC. ICC could managed to score 142 for 8 in the reduced 16-over match. Only Guddu (38) and Raheel offered some resistance. Majid took 4 for 38.

In the second match at ground No.2, NCB batting first made 172 for 8 in the allotted 18 overs. Openers Nadir Toor (44) and Hashim (30) gave NCB a good start.

But a double strike by Faheem slowed down the run-rate though Irfan made a quick-fire 51 they did not have enough runs on the board to make a fight of it. Athar took 4 for 25.

In reply the Hijaz-XI reached their target 173 by losing only three wickets.

Talha Qulani (64), Athar (49), Wahaj (30) and Kamran (19 not out) were the main run-getters. Aizaz Ashraf Toor took 2 for 30.

In the third match at ground No.4, ACE Travel batting first totalled 165 for 7 in 18 overs. Abdul Muqeet (47 n.o.) Akram (24), Ismail (31) and Mukhtar (33) did their best for the travelmen. Ghoshi took 3 for 27.

In reply the Pak Young scored 167 for 6 in 17.2 overs.

Mustafa (39), Ghoshi (33), Shakeel (31) were the main scorers. Akram took 2 wickets.
