Regular exercise and matching food habits will no doubt shed the extra pounds to keep a female body fit and graceful.
Dr. Bassem Shauqi, coordinator at the Obesity Unit in the Star Care Center and American trainer Michelle Elias, director of the Olympic Club for Health Fitness at the Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital in Jeddah, gave Arab News some useful tips on how women can stay slim and fit.
According to Shauqi and Elias, achieving symmetry and balance of the trunk, abdomen and waist is the most important aspect of physical fitness.
The waist girth should be less in size than the chest girth, which in turn should be less than the buttock girth in order to attain the ideal symmetry. There are special exercises and food habits that help achieve this.
Holding a medium-sized ball in both hands and stretching them straight as much as possible will burn fat on the rear arm muscles. The back should be straight when doing the exercise. Similarly, holding an iron ball of medium weight in both hands and moving them up and down will reduce fat around the frontal arm muscles.
Abdominal exercises alone are not enough to tone stomach muscles. You should eat a lot of lean red meat (goat, cow or camel). Chicken and fish are also good for keeping down body weight. Walking exercises are recommended. These exercises plus suitable food will burn fat and give a pleasing look to the female waist.
Workouts using both hands and bringing the face down close to the floor, fixing the feet as shown in the picture, help strengthen stomach muscles. Moving the abdomen to the front while balanced on a ball can eliminate fat deposits below the skin. Eating calcium-rich food sheds weight and burns calories around the trunk area.
Shoulder exercises tone shoulder muscles, providing a shapely look harmonious with the waistline.
Jumping on a rubber surface, as shown in the picture, helps to improve blood circulation and maintain a steady heart pulse.
This speeds up blood circulation, tones every muscle in your body and burns fat.
Cycling is an ideal exercise to burn body fat.
The type of cycling shown in the picture suits women capable of a high level of agility and targets the fat on the buttocks.
A diet devoid of starch, combined with walking or cycling, will also undoubtedly burn buttock fat.
Stretching one’s muscles and regular breathing, or practicing on the machine shown in the picture, will relax both body and mind.
