The children were rescued from the building through the window of the second floor, said Capt. Abdullah Al-Amri, spokesman of Jeddah Civil Defense. He added that investigations are underway to find the cause of the fire.
In another incident, a fire broke out in a sweets warehouse in south Jeddah. A large quantity of flame-retardant foam was pumped around the warehouse to stop the fire spreading to nearby establishments. No one was injured in the fire despite considerable material loss.
