Canada defeated four-time champion Pakistan 3-2 in the playoff for the last two positions in the 12-nation tournament Thursday.
The PHF said in a statement that Zia “has dissolved the team management and national selection committee after the poor performance in the World Cup.”
Former Olympians Hasan Sardar, Rana Mujahid, Khalid Bashir and Farhat Khan were on the selection panel while the team was coached by Shahid Ali Khan.
Zia said the PHF will hold an inquiry into Pakistan's worst ever finish in the World Cup and will call a meeting of its executive committee once the team arrives home.
Manager of the team Asif Bajwa will continue as PHF secretary.
Pakistan's upper house also took notice of the national team's poor showing at the World Cup where it won just one pool match - against Spain - and lost to archrival India, England, South Africa and Australia.
The Senate's standing committee on sports has summoned Zia, the entire team management and the coach to explain the reason for the defeats next Thursday.
