The number eight won two grand slams, in 2002, the year of his international debut when he was 22, and 2004.
"In 2002, I didn't realize at all what was happening. It was just fantastic to play, to be on the pitch, to win the Six Nations. Mind you, the celebrations were worthy of the feat," he told reporters on Wednesday.
"Two years later, the grand slam helped us to get our revenge on the three or four months we had spent together during the World Cup in Australia which ended badly," Harinordoquy said.
"When the Six Nations came we said to ourselves we had worked so hard that we had to win something."
The French fulfilled their promise and Harinordoquy scored a try in the 24-21 win over England which sealed the title.
The Basque backrower is now 30, has 61 caps and knows that a grand slam is a rare achievement.
"A grand slam is something huge for a rugby player. I know that I'm closer to the end than to the beginning of my career and there will be fewer and fewer opportunities. That's why Saturday's game is so important," he said.
"It will be the last game of the championship, a final with what it means for a player who hates defeat like me," he added.
"It will be a special game and it will be even more special because the last game will be against England."
The Basque backrower, who branded the English as "arrogant" in 2003, said he had nothing personal against them.
"The problem is on the pitch from the first to the 80th or the 82nd minute depending on the duration of the game," he said.
"I don't like them saying 'good game' when they beat us. I hold a grudge against them because they stopped me from doing great things like playing two World Cup finals," he added referring to France's defeats by England in the semi-finals in 2003 and 2007.
"Don't get me wrong, I like to play against England because they have great players. A game against England is always a rendez-vous because you know your opposite number will not be out to do you any favors."
"Saturday's game will be a real contest, a real fight, a brawl."
