The punishments included fines ranging between SR10,000 and SR50,000, financial compensation for pilgrims who were affected by infractions, reduction of the quota of pilgrims licensed to be served by 10 percent and the deportation of tour operators who are not Saudi nationals.
The nature of the infractions committed by these tour operators was not disclosed.
The committee also reviewed violations of 16 non-licensed campaigns and offices providing services for pilgrims. The committee included delegates from the ministries of Haj, Interior and Commerce and Industry.
