“Specialized security agents have completed their investigation after receiving information that the Al-Watan building had come under gun attack,” Al-Garni told reporters. He said there was no material evidence to indicate that a gun attack had taken place.
“No witness has come up with any evidence to prove that there was a gun attack on the building,” the spokesman said. However, he pointed out that a few people from inside the building said they had heard gunshots.
Security officers specialized in checking criminal evidence said in their report that the damage that was found on the building was not caused by an attack with guns.
“Our investigations have shown that reports that the Al-Watan building came under gun attack is not true,” the spokesman said.
Jamal Khashoggi, editor in chief of Al-Watan, refused to comment on the police report. “I have gone through the report and I have no comment at this time.”
Previous reports said the paper’s building suffered minor damages as a result of the attack that took place in the first week of this month.
