Around 450 leading companies from over 17 countries are participating in the show which also runs Saudi Communications 2010 at the same time. The event showcases a wide range of ICT products and services.
Sponsored by Saudi Telecom Company (STC),the event offers a complete range of telecommunications equipment, systems, networking, IT solutions, software/programs, office automation, PCs and laptops, mobile phones, multimedia devices, educational tools and digital entertainment solutions.
Following the opening, Mulla toured the exhibition grounds. The exhibits included a wide range of new technology innovations, including rapid deployment units, alternate wind and solar energy solutions for powering sites, fiber optic turnkey services, GIS, signaling and telecommunications solutions, BTS monitoring devices, interactive technology services, and theater rigging systems.
Among the companies participating in the event, Epson has introduced a new projector range, including a selection of installation, desktop and portable solutions.
Other innovative products at the event include a new line of wireless projectors and the latest 3LCD technology projectors designed for the educational, health care and banking sectors.
“Saudi Arabia maintains its reputation as the leading ICT market in the GCC region, which creates a wealth of business opportunities for local, regional and international suppliers,” said Mohammed Al-Hussaini, deputy general manager of the Riyadh Exhibitions Company,(REC) organizer of the event.
GITEX KSA 2010 has been restructured to cater to the evolving needs of niche markets and allow a wider range of industry segments to benefit from the latest technology solutions. Moreover, Al-Hussaini added that trade visitors would have the opportunity to discuss the latest ICT breakthroughs with industry executives and explore exciting offers from leading suppliers.
Over 100,000 local and foreign visitors ranging from potential buyers, dealers, major business owners, IT professionals and government decision-makers are expected to attend the event.
The latest ICT spend growth forecast in Saudi Arabia represents a new upward trend after the country registered a four percent CAGR in ICT expenditure in 2009. Broadband Internet, including WiMAX and mobile high-speed packet access technologies, has provided a major boost in consumer technology adoption across the country as broadband registered members reached 1.985 million at the end of the first nine months of 2009, increasing by 49.2 percent over the same period in 2008.
