“About 500 employees are currently working to combat dengue fever in the city,” he said. He also hoped that dengue cases would drop in the coming months.
He denied reports that there were conflicts between officials of government departments during a meeting at the municipality’s headquarters on Saturday. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed to find out the reasons for the increase in dengue cases.
Fakieh said municipal teams were working around the clock to combat dengue by spraying insecticides in mosquito-breeding areas. Saturday’s meeting emphasized the need for the committee in charge of spraying insecticides to meet once in three months instead of six months.
