Chavez says the electrical grid is no longer in danger of collapsing, and weekend, holiday and peak-usage rationing will come to an end. He said Friday night in a televised speech that authorities eventually expect to lift the state of emergency he declared in February.
Recent heavy rains have eased a drought that threatened to stall the Guri hydroelectric plant, which generates most of Venezuela's power.
Chavez has also accused his political opponents of trying to sabotage the power grid, while critics say his government has not invested enough in electrical infrastructure.
