A draft memorandum of understanding (MOU) was passed at a council session presided over by Chairman Abdullah Al-Asheikh.
The council’s Secretary-General Abdullah Al-Ghamdi said members had approved the draft MOU between the Kingdom's General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) and the Yemeni General Corporation for Social Security.
Al-Ghamdi added that the two countries enjoy historical ties and the Kingdom was interested in exchanging expertise with Yemen in several areas of mutual interest.
Recently, several agreements were signed at the 19th session of the Saudi-Yemeni Coordination Council held in Riyadh.
The two sides also agreed to cooperate in the fields of tourism, health, culture and science, among others.
Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Saudi Development Fund Ibrahim Al-Assaf and Yemeni Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Abdul Kareem bin Ismail Al-Arhabi, who is also the country’s minister of planning and international cooperation, signed four agreements that will lead to the administering of financial aid to Yemen.
The grants included SR150 million for water and drainage projects in urban areas, SR187.5 million for financing the 5th Energy Project, SR75 million for the Hudeidah Central Hospital and SR18 million for equipping workshops and laboratories at Taiz University’s faculties of engineering and education.
In a report submitted by the council's committee on education and science, Shoura members also approved a draft memorandum on scientific and educational cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and the Moroccan ministry responsible for education and scientific research in the country.
Al-Ghamdi said the draft agreement would allow for the exchange of scholars and researchers between universities of the two countries. Monday's session was concluded following the submission of the Ministry of Education’s annual report.
Appreciating the achievements and challenges faced by the ministry, the house referred the report to the council's education committee.
